5 Second Logo Reveal

Here is one of my drafts for my logo reveal for Green Air. After talking with Tyler about some tweaks on the animation we concluded that the leaf needs to have more of an entrance eluding the gravity and movement of the leaf. Also, how the radio waves should or may keep moving off the screen. We'll see what happens!

This was produced in After Effects. I'm still trying to learn the program so it still looks like it could have totally been done in Flash.

Final Color Storyboard

Here is my final color storyboard. The motion is supposed to be light and airy to reenforce the organic feel of the logo. When you see a transparent layer in the frame, it's showing when and how things will disappear, move, and appear.

The movement of the radial circle is meant to show the sound waves and how they move as well. The colors are simple, but clean. I thought a vectored leaf would look to digital and the hand rendered text is mean to look more simple and personal, like the station is means to represent.

Brief Storyboard Ideas

STORY BOARDS
Here are my storyboard ideas and thumbnails towards the direction for the final product.
REVISITING THE LOGO
Before making the storyboards, I decided to revisit my logo. Here are some ideas and iterations, going to the final (I hope) logo.

Creating an Icon

GENERATING ICON SKETCHES
1. Uses lowercase letters to target the informality and "organicness" of GreenAir. The insides of the g and a are hollowed out by the shape of leaves.
2. The A is mimicking that of a radio tower to hit at the immediate obviousness of GreenAir being a radio station.
3. By adding the full title, viewers are then able to see what the company is called at first glance. No guessing what the "GA" stands for. The cursive text, again, adds to an organic notation of what the "feel" of the station is. And it being a station, henceforth, demonstrates the radio tower and signal.
4. By adding the full title, viewers are then able to see what the company is called at first glance. No guessing what the "GA" stands for. The radio on the side was the most obvious demonstration for displaying that GreenAir is, again, a radio station.
5. This approach was more of an aesthetic one. I tired to picture a more contemporary logo and incorporate the leaf which is a universal symbol for growth and environment.
6. Uses lowercase letters to target the informality and "organicness" of GreenAir. The insides of the g and a are hollowed out by the shape of leaves. Using the opposite of number one, the black and boldness (what would eventually work it's way to being the color green) stands out more than a simple outline.

SIMPLER FORM
CONNECTING CONCEPTS
Thinking about last critique or discussion over the logo of Green Air, I decided to incorporate stylized letterforms and the symbolism of the leaf and the radio tower in the counters to push what Green Air actually does. Also, I left Green Air spelt out at the bottom so the audience would get used to seeing them together and when they're are separated being familiar with just the letter forms GA by themselves.

Meshing Two Channels

SUMMARY
For our next project I am combining exercise 3 and exercise 4 to create a narrative using both sound and text. My first dilemma is to figure out how to manipulate time and organize time to made the final piece the strongest composition possible.

FIX EM UP
Before I continue to combine these two channels the following corrections need to be made;
The sound clip needs to end with a little more of an actual radio powering off noise (which I think I may have found the right sound after experimenting with buttons and searching online.

As far as the type motion project goes, there are some issues with the timeline. Also, Tyler pointed out that Sierra needs to say Sierra Club. Even though some people understand what you're talking about, even though you're incorrect, the point it to be correct with your sources and your information.

One Channel Project 4

Narration is about designing the narrative and [have a strong understanding of] how we receive it. We need to figure out ways to control things of how the viewer understands it.

This time I chose to use text for my one chosen channel. It was quite the task of trying to manipulate the text to give it kind of a "character" or to evoke some sort of emotion.

In chronological order, each text that is shown in order of the date either the book, was written, the cause was joined, or the slang was coined. Each phrase goes from white to green to black to kind of shows the passing of time. They all disappear and then the GreenAir logo is evident. This is meant to symbolize what GreenAir is made of; all the things that have come before.

NA Project 3 Detailed Narrative

MEETING OBJECTIVES
With each exercise done in Narrative, there are important objectives to be met. In this process I applied communicative potential of the communication channel of sound to enforce my classroom project. Because GreenAir is a radio station, I needed to get the viewer as close to the actual experience as I could by sampling from the radio. Also, using different sound bites keeps interest throughout the thirty five seconds that the commercial lasts.

Knowing what I know about a narrative, and how it can affection the viewer due to the medium, I know that an application can work in both linear and non-linear forms. My form was non-linear due to the fact the information was collected about what kind of programs or business this was. The spastic jumping from voice to voice also had a non-linear approach to the sound bite.

MISSION STATEMENT*
GreenAir is a nationally syndicated news radio feature and interactive hub for Green and environmentally significant news, stories and entertainment. It is comprised of a global network of media professionals who create, market, publish, and distribute traditional and new media content with a contemporary humanistic voice.

*The mission statement entails one that is already established from the GreenAir website.

Detailed Narrative

Here is my wave of communication to display the company I'm rebranding called GreenAir. I decided to just use sound because it reflects the emotional and the user's experience when actually listening to the radio.

Final Poster for Exercise

The final poster I created is a single frame narrative. In this poster, I can enfource the viewer to look at the poster becasue it captures still text and imagery that can be observed for longer than a moving narrative. It is a 24" x 36" color, tiled printout.
In order to inform my audience I found the site GreenAir and discovered it was already a company, or radioshow, that was geared toward the topics I originally wanted it to be. The visual language of the poster inclues the more contemporary "green movement" feel and face. The stylistic inspiration was older, not as well designed sites including the GreenAir site that is already underway. The leaf, the radio tower, and the off yellow paper the poster is anchored on associates to materials and interest of what the radio stations program is all about. The way I included a diagram was to simply add a radio, an ear, and some text to renforce that GreenAir is a radio program. This way it is easy for the viewer to simply understand "it's a radio show, I need to turn on the radio and listen to interact with GreenAir."
